How can I download files that are included as Assets in Webflow?

TL;DR
  • Open the Webflow Designer, go to the Assets panel, and find the file you want.
  • Right-click the asset to copy its URL, paste it into a browser, then download the file from the opened link.

To download files from the Assets panel in Webflow, you’ll need to follow a few specific steps, since Webflow doesn’t provide a direct download option inside its Designer.

1. Open the Webflow Designer

  • Go to your project in Webflow.
  • Click Designer to open the workspace.
  • On the left panel, click the Assets icon (looks like a photo).

2. Locate the File You Want to Download

  • Scroll or search for the specific asset using the search bar at the top of the Assets panel.
  • This can be an image, video, PDF, or any non-image file you previously uploaded.

3. Get the File’s Direct URL

  • Right-click on the thumbnail of the asset.
  • Select Copy URL. This copies the hosted Webflow file URL (e.g., https://assets.website-files.com/...).

4. Download the File

  • Open a new browser tab and paste the URL.
  • Once the file loads (or triggers a download), you can either:
  • Right-click and choose "Save as…", or
  • It will automatically download, depending on file type and browser settings.

Summary

To download asset files from Webflow, copy the file’s URL from the Assets panel, open it in a browser, and download it from there. Webflow does not currently allow asset downloads directly within the Designer interface.
