How to duplicate a CMS collection on the same website in Webflow?

TL;DR
  • Export the original CMS Collection as a CSV file from the CMS panel.
  • Manually recreate a new collection with matching fields, then import the CSV data and re-upload media.
  • Update or duplicate Collection Lists and Template Pages to connect them to the new collection.

Duplicating a CMS Collection in Webflow on the same site isn’t supported by a single-click action, but you can manually replicate it. Here's how to do it step-by-step.

1. Export the Existing CMS Collection

  • Go to the CMS panel in the Webflow Designer.
  • Click on the Collection you want to duplicate.
  • In the top-right corner, click the Export (⇩) button to download a .csv file of your CMS items.

2. Create a New CMS Collection

  • In the CMS panel, click the + New Collection button.
  • Create a new collection with a name like “Blog Duplicate” or “Projects Copy”.
  • Manually recreate each field from the original collection. Field types and names must match exactly if you want the import to work cleanly (e.g., plain text, image, multi-reference).

3. Import the CSV into the New Collection

  • After creating the new collection, click Import in the top-right corner.
  • Upload your exported .csv file.
  • Map each CSV column to the new collection’s fields during the import process.
  • For media (image or file fields), you’ll need to re-upload assets manually because Webflow doesn't retain file links during export.

4. Reconnect CMS Lists or Templates (If Needed)

  • Any original Collection Lists or Template Pages won’t automatically connect to the new collection.
  • Manually update Collection Lists or create new ones to point to the newly duplicated collection.
  • If needed, duplicate template pages and rebind elements to the new collection fields.

Summary

You can duplicate a CMS Collection in Webflow by exporting its content, recreating the collection structure manually, and importing the data back in. While labor-intensive, this is currently the only way to replicate a collection within the same site.
