Webflow has officially implemented a native login system through its new product line: Webflow Memberships. This feature allows creators to build gated content and user-based experiences directly inside Webflow without relying on third-party tools.
1. Webflow Memberships Overview
- Webflow Memberships lets you create user accounts, gated pages, user-based content, and sign-in/sign-up flows.
- The feature is currently in Beta but is being rolled out gradually and is expected to become generally available.
- It supports basic membership workflows like registration, login, logout, and authenticated access to pages and collections.
2. Key Features of Webflow Memberships
- User Authentication: You can set up login/signup forms using native elements.
- Gated Content: Control page visibility based on logged-in status or user access groups.
- Custom User Fields: Store and display user-specific data (e.g., names, roles).
- CMS Integration: Display dynamic content to different user groups.
- Logic Integration: Integrate with Webflow Logic for workflows like email triggers after signup.
3. How to Use It
- Go to Project Settings > Memberships & Logic tab to enable the feature.
- Add Membership Pages like log in, sign up, log out, and account from the “Pages” panel using the Membership template option.
- Configure Access Groups to define what each user role can see or access.
4. Limitations (as of current Beta)
- Payments are not yet directly supported in Memberships (no native paywall); use Stripe in combination or external tools if needed.
- No SSO or OAuth integrations currently.
- Email customization is basic and primarily for system messages like signup confirmation.
Summary
Webflow now supports native user login functionality via its Memberships feature, which allows for building gated, user-driven experiences. While still in Beta, it offers solid capabilities for authentication, gating content, and creating user dashboards—all without third-party tools.
