You're seeing the error "You've created all the items allowed by your Webflow CMS Hosting plan" even though you have only 104 items, well below the 2,000-item limit. This is not necessarily a bug, but it may be due to other factors.
1. Check the CMS Item Count Across All Collections
- The 2,000-item limit applies to all CMS items, across all collections, including archived and draft items.
- Go to CMS Collections panel, manually count or look at item counts for each collection.
- Include items in:
- Published state
- Drafts
- Archived
- Staged for publish
2. Verify Item Count in Project Settings
- Go to Project Settings → Hosting tab → CMS section.
- Webflow shows a total CMS Item Usage bar.
- If it shows 2,000/2,000 used, then the system is identifying all usable CMS slots as filled.
3. Check for Deleted Items Not Yet Removed
- Deleting a CMS item moves it to the Trash, but doesn't immediately free up space.
- Go to each CMS collection, click "Trash", and permanently delete trashed items to restore CMS space.
4. Hidden or Unused Collections
- Check for collections that are not actively being used but still store CMS items.
- Even if a collection isn’t connected to any page, its contents still count toward your total CMS item quota.
5. Collection Limits on E-commerce (if used)
- If you're using Webflow Ecommerce, product and category collections also count against your CMS limit.
- Each Product and Category counts as a CMS item.
- If your Project Settings → Hosting tab shows far fewer than 2,000 items, but you're still getting this alert, Webflow may have a backend issue or metering error.
- In that case, contact Webflow Support with a screenshot of your item count.
Summary
This error is usually caused by CMS drafts, archived items, or trashed items not yet deleted, rather than a bug. Verify your total CMS item count in the Hosting tab and clean up unused or hidden items. If everything looks normal but the alert remains, contact Webflow Support directly.
