Webflow does not allow the transfer of active hosting plans when moving a site to a different account. Hosting is tied to the individual Webflow account and must be reactivated after a site transfer.
1. Hosting Is Account-Specific
- Webflow’s hosting plans are linked to the account where they were purchased, not the website itself.
- When you transfer a project to a different Webflow account or Workspace, the hosting setup does not move with it.
- The receiving account must re-purchase hosting if they want to keep the project published.
2. What Happens During Transfer
- Only the project’s design, CMS content, and assets are transferred.
- Hosting and any associated custom domains or form settings will be removed during the transfer.
- You will see a message confirming this before the transfer is completed.
3. Steps to Republish the Site
- In the new account, go to Project Settings > Hosting.
- Select and activate a new Site Plan (e.g., Basic, CMS, Business).
- Reconnect your custom domains and add required DNS records at your registrar.
- Publish the site again.
4. Alternative Option: Workspace Transfers
- If moving within the same Workspace, hosting stays intact.
- Site Plans are transferable only within the same Workspace, not between different accounts or Workspaces.
Summary
Webflow hosting plans cannot be transferred across accounts. After moving a site to a new account, the recipient must purchase a new hosting plan and reconnect any custom domains.
