Your canvas size in Webflow Designer likely changed because you're viewing a different breakpoint or set a constraint unintentionally. Here's how to restore it to Webflow’s default desktop canvas width of 1165px and full height.
1. Check the Active Breakpoint
- Look at the top center of the Webflow Designer. You'll see viewport buttons (Desktop, Tablet, Mobile Landscape, Mobile Portrait).
- If you're on Tablet (993px), click the Desktop icon to return to 1165px default canvas.
2. Reset Body or Page Element Width
- Select the Body element (click the Navigator panel and choose Body (All Pages)).
- Check the Style panel on the right—look for any custom width or max-width set to 993px or similar.
- If you see it, remove or reset that value by clicking the blue value and hitting the delete key or the orange reset icon.
3. Confirm Section and Container Sizes
- Check any main Sections or Containers you added—some may have a set width of 993px.
- Make sure Containers are not set to a fixed width—reset or set to 100% width or use Webflow's native Container component, which defaults to responsive centering.
4. Viewport Zoom Doesn’t Affect Canvas
- Canvas zoom (bottom left of Designer) only affects display, not actual element size. Still, make sure it's set to 100% to avoid confusion.
5. Keyboard Shortcut for Breakpoint Reset
- Press Shift + ⇧ + D (Shift + D) to switch to the Desktop breakpoint quickly.
Summary
To return to the default 1165px x 100% desktop canvas in Webflow, switch to the Desktop breakpoint, and check the Body and top-level elements for any manually set widths like 993px that need to be reset.
